Tintin in the Land of the Soviets is the main volume of The Adventures of Tintin. Authorized by the traditionalist Belgian paper Le Vingtième Siècle as hostile to socialist parody for its youngsters' enhancement Le Petit Vingtième, it was serialized week by week from January 1929 to May 1930 preceding being distributed in a gathered volume by Éditions du Petit Vingtième in 1930. The story recounts youthful Belgian columnist Tintin and his canine Snowy, who are shipped off the Soviet Union to investigate the approaches of Joseph Stalin's Bolshevik government. Tintin's aim to uncover the system's insider facts prompts operators from the Soviet mystery police, the OGPU, to chase him down with the plan to execute.
